Phoenix™
Ptilotus exaltatus 'Platinum Wallaby'
![]() |
Phoenix™ is a rounded perennial growing aprroximately 50 cm high x 50 cm wide. This Ptilotus has deep green leaves with red-purple margins. Phoenix carries spikes of feathery pink flowers above the plant all year. It was chosen for its compact growth habit and long bloom period. Phoenix is now available in small numbers. Uses Great for garden specimen plantings and large tubs. Position Open sunny position in well drained soils. For containers only use premium Australian standard potting mix. It is suited to a wide range of Australian climates and is tolerant of extremes of heat and cold. Phoenix is a short lived perennial in the eastern states at best, so it should be treated like a long season annual. Enjoy its spectacular flowers for 8 to 10 months of the year and you may get a second or third year from the plant if you're lucky. In Western Australia and even South Australia, the dryer climate may see it live longer. Care Prune spent flower stems and feed in early spring or late summer with low phosphorus controlled release fertiliser. |
